Canon to launch imagePRESS 7010VP and imagePRESS 7010VPS at Printex

Canon Australia today announced it will be launching the new flagship colour Canon imagePRESS 7010VP and Canon imagePRESS C7010VPS series at Printex in Sydney, 4-6 May 2011.

The Canon imagePRESS C7010VPS series is the first jointly developed product from Canon and Océ and combines the impressive image quality and productivity of the Canon imagePRESS 7010VP with the processing power of the Océ PRISMA® sync.

“As the first jointly developed product it is an important demonstration of Canon and Océ’s existing research and development (R&D) synergies and our ability to develop leading technology that ultimately will drive better solutions for customers. With this launch we will begin to show how our R&D program, our broad range of products and our collective industry knowledge will help us to grow our customers’ businesses and become the global leader in the print industry,” said Craig Manson, Director, Canon Business Imaging, Canon Australia.

The Canon imagePRESS 7010VP will provide customers with greater profitability through increased productivity and flexibility as well as the traditional imagePRESS benefits of exceptional quality and maximum performance on all media types and weights.

New features include faster simplex and duplex output on a wider range of stocks (from 60-325gsm) and higher productivity on mixed-sided print jobs, offering commercial printers, Print-for-Pay businesses and print rooms a broader array of applications.

Canon’s imagePRESS 7010VPS series takes colour production printing and workflow efficiency to the next level, offering our customers the unique benefits of a press that combines Canon’s proven digital colour press technology with Océ PRISMA® sync operation management. Damian Schaller, Marketing Manager at Océ says: “For print professionals, the merging of front end and printing press into one integrated system delivers offset-quality print and improves production efficiency with the convenience, shorter run lengths and cost benefits of digital production.”

The Canon imagePRESS VPS series introduces a number of unique productivity-boosting features, including an intelligent job scheduler and a media-based workflow that minimise downtime and increase the user’s freedom to plan ahead.

To see both the Canon imagePRESS 7010VP and the Canon imagePRESS C7010VPS in action visit the Canon (stand 3204) and Océ (stand 2809) at Printex on 4-6 May at Sydney’s Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Productivity

Canon’s new imagePRESS 7010VP can be paired with a range of Canon controllers, the imagePRESS Server 3200, 2200 and 1200. Based on EFI technology, the controllers feature a new operating system, not previously available in existing Canon controllers, that delivers faster RIPPING speeds and job turnaround, leading to increased uptime for printers. Providing further efficiency gains, the new controllers also include Adobe’s Pdf Print Engine (APPE). Customers are also given the option to incorporate Canon’s imagePRESS CR Server A7000 V2, which is powered by CREO Colour Server technology.

Colour management

The new imagePRESS series builds on Canon’s heritage and expertise in digital colour with the inclusion of X-Rite iProcess Control V3, an enhanced version of its colour management software. New features i1 Process Control V3 maximise the colour capability of the imagePRESS C7010VP and deliver significant user benefits.

Spot Colour Optimisation allows users to add specific spot colours, e.g. brand colours, into the profiling process and tune the imagePRESS to be able to hit them with greater accuracy.

Productivity

The Océ PRISMA® sync front end brings to the imagePRESS C7010VPS series considerable processing power, the integrated Adobe® RIP, superb media handling and advanced colour management, enabling impressive RIP speeds and outstanding colour quality. The front end open workflow connectivity enables the systems to be seamlessly integrated into industry-standard workflows.

The Canon imagePRESS C7010VPS enables production to be accelerated even further, with intuitive operation and an intelligent job scheduler to boost productivity by supporting up to eight hours of plan-ahead production. The Océ PRISMA software facilitates a task-based workflow that allows prepress specialists to focus on document preparation while operators concentrate on production.

Users benefit from the unique, media-based workflow approach with one media catalogue for pre-press and production. Users submitting jobs select the correct media from the system’s detailed media catalogue with just one click. This tells the operator exactly which media to use and automatically configures the printer for the selected media. This media-driven operation enables the operator to prepare jobs ahead while minimising errors, turnaround time and waste.
