Canon launches latest generation EOS 350D D-SLR offering even more features than its predecessor.
Sydney, 3 March 2005 - Canon Australia today further cements its leadership in the imaging industry with the rollout of 20 new consumer products. Building on the company's recently announced record results for 2004, Canon's product map features a range of new imaging products designed to meet the insatiable consumer demand for digital imaging products.
"Today is a significant day for Canon and our customers. The take up of Canon product across 2004 has broken all records, particularly in the fourth quarter, sustaining the strong growth trend we saw in 2003. Canon Australia's revenue in 2004 was $842.0m, a 6.4% increase on 2003 revenue, which was $791.5m," said Mr Shuichi Tsukahara, Managing Director for Canon Australia.
"Today's launch pays tribute to our customers, who continue to demand products that meet their need for capturing spontaneous life images and producing simple, high quality photo prints from the home. The key to our technology is Advanced Simplicity and is the philosophical heart and practical core of everything that Canon does.
"This year our two pillars of focus in the consumer and professional digital imaging market will be driven by the innovation of PIXMA and DiG!C. PIXMA brings a printing solution so advanced to our customers that we believe it will make them want to print more photos at home. DiG!C brings a new level of processing power across our entire camera range that delivers greater speed, brighter colours and incredible resolution and clarity," Mr Tsukahara said.
Last year one in three households purchased a digital still camera (DSC). This year the industry is expecting to see increased growth of this market to 2.2 million units. The ease of printing high quality photos in the home and having instant access to these is playing an increasingly important role in the wider adoption of digital imaging solutions and driving the take up of digital devices such as digital still cameras, digital video cameras and printers.
"Our strategy for bundling product that delivers a complete solution for customers has seen a positive impact in the growth of Canon customers. It also demonstrates the need for providing our customers with the most powerful and convenient digital imaging bundles, partnering the best of our cameras with the best of our printing range to deliver a complete solution for our customers," said Mr Tsukahara.
