Canon launches imageRUNNER iRC3180i Colour workgroup printer

Canon's new imageRUNNER C3180i blends ease-of-use with powerful document workflow features for the office workgroup
Thursday, 6 December 2007 - Canon today announces the launch of the imageRUNNER iR C3180i multifunction device (MFD) for office workgroups. The latest addition to Canon's award winning range offers seamless integration into network infrastructure and provides staff the ability to capture, manage and communicate information with new levels of clarity and speed. With a peak output of 31 pages per minute for black and white documents and seven pages per minute in colour, the imageRUNNER C3180i is ideal for office workgroups and networked environments.

The device is designed as a document hub, capable of printing detailed reports in black and white or colour, scanning hardcopy documents straight to e-mail, and copying and sending faxes from the single, compact device. By amalgamating the capabilities of many devices into one, space-starved offices can free up valuable real estate. With a high print quality of 9,600 x 600dpi and generous 4,750-sheet paper capacity, the iR C3180i is capable of handing demanding applications with ease, and users can even produce staple-finished documents without the need for an external staple sorter courtesy of an internal finishing unit.

The high print resolution ensures that documents are produced with complete clarity and fidelity. The fine grain structure of Canon's innovative polymerised toner renders lines with precision and smooths the gradations between shades.

Smart Features
Many business documents are predominantly black and white with an occasional colour logo or chart to provide impact. Canon's auto colour sensing technology ensures that monochrome pages are printed at the fastest speed and that customers only pay for individual colour pages when they use them.

Using MEAP (Multifunctional Embedded Application Platform), Canon's device-embedded Java based application platform, enables new and customised software developments to be incorporated directly within the device on-site, ensuring the investment is future proof. MEAP is a significant step forward for multifunction devices. This Canon proprietary technology allows you to customise the functions of these devices to suit an organisation's processes and document workflow.

For example, proximity card readers to control user access and authentication can be used. Depending on the application, MEAP can simplify complex document management tasks like automatically routing scanned documents into back office systems depending on their content.

The system is designed to fit seamlessly into a network environment with a range of easy-to-use configuration and management tools. Network-enabled user authentication tools permit existing network IDs and passwords to be used so employees can maintain a single identity for all network security functions.

Canon's Colour Universal Send feature enables documents to be scanned at a resolution of 600 x 600dpi, at up to 44 images per minute, which can then be sent to numerous locations. To help save even more time, a searchable PDF (OCR) mode is included to aid the quick location of scanned files.

To improve organisational efficiency even further, the imageRUNNER C3180i can be teamed with Canon's Document Solutions software. This family of advanced applications works in unison with Canon imageRUNNER devices to enhance the way an organisation captures, stores, retrieves and communicates information. Canon Document Solutions incorporates seven categories of software applications that together encompass every aspect of an organisation's document workflow. A selection of applications from Canon and its partners is offered in each category, so we can match a solution to your exact needs.
