NZ-Canon Wins BLI’s 2008
Based on the outstanding overall performance of its MFPs in BLI’s comprehensive laboratory tests, Canon Inc has earned BLI’s most prestigious award, “MFP Line of the Year,” for 2008.
Environment Canterbury’s (ECan’s) purpose is to achieve a sustainable environment and sustainable communities, for the benefit of people, communities and future generations, at a reasonable level of monetary and personal costs. The organisation aims to keep the Canterbury region as a living landscape, which has a flourishing environment and is rich in natural resources.
The Hurunui District Council, with the help of Canon New Zealand, turned what appeared to be an unaffordable dream into a cost effective reality when they converted 850,000 bulky paper documents into easily accessible digital files in just three months.
The Hurunui District Council, based in North Canterbury serves a mostly rural population of 9,885 people. The Vision Statement of the Hurunui District Council is: “Working together to build a better community”
At the end of a three month trip around India in 2008, I had gathered over 54,000 images, all shot with the Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II digital SLR and Canon EF lenses.
Capturing India
With India being an extremely vibrant continent, the resulting photographs carried a very rich colour palette. For several months, the image selection and editing process focused on preserving this richness whilst presenting the many eye-opening facets of life in India.
Tokoroa High School and uniFLOW
For the 450 pupils and staff at Tokoroa High School scanning and sharing information on-line and keeping a tighter control on printing costs has become a lot easier thanks to its partnership with Canon New Zealand.
Tai Poutini is an innovative polytechnic providing both core tertiary education and niche programmes on the West Coast of the South Island and throughout New Zealand. Established in Greymouth in 1990, today it is one of the fastest growing polytechnics in New Zealand and has over 16,000 students scattered across its nine campuses.
With four campuses across New Zealand, two in Wellington and one in both Auckland and Christchurch, Wellington Institute of Technology (WelTec) has around 11,000 full and part time students studying a range of subjects from automotive to information technologies; health and wellbeing to veterinary nursing.
Founded in 1986, Whitireia Community Polytechnic is a crown-owned tertiary education institution that specialises in hands-on learning, and offers over 130 different courses and programmes. Originally based at Porirua, and now with campuses at Porirua, Kapiti, Mohuia, Wellington and Auckland Central. Whitireia polytechnic has grown to host 7000 students across all five campuses.
Inky’s Print ‘n’ Copy in Queensland is a leading provider of large and print-on demand printing, laminating, scanning and other services for a number of professionals seeking high-quality image solutions. Proudly stating, “from prints and plans to signs and scans” demonstrates the breadth of Inky’s services, and boasting a range of offerings, including cards, flyers, photography and wedding albums.
Canon network cameras now help monitor the birth of Guide Dog puppies Guide Dogs Victoria is a non-profit organisation responsible for breeding and training dogs for use by vision impaired Victorians.
The organisation operates a facility in Kew in Melbourne, and the Breeding Centre presides over the birth of up to 25 litters per year. Three full time staff monitor and run the breeding program, with a number of casual employees rostered in to help balance the load during busy times.
