Topic 3 - Accessories
Topic 4 - Tutorial Task

Topic One: Lenses

Playing with lenses is one of the best parts of digital SLR photography. They come in two categories, zoom and non-zoom (or prime). Prime lenses are good if you have a very specific shot in mind. But with a few zoom lenses, you'll have a lower budget and a lighter camera bag. Invest in a matched standard lens such as an 18-55 or 24-105 and a telephoto lens such as a 75-300mm. These will cover you for virtually every shot to begin with. Then, when you want to know more, visit http://canon.com.au/products/cameras_lenses_and_accessories.html

Topic Two: Flash

These are great to play with too. Flash also has a different effect in different modes. For example, in Program mode, use the flash to 'fill-in' light on shadowy areas. Or in Aperture-priority mode, use the flash to give good exposure to both foreground and background subjects. Once you've had a play, visit http://www.canon.com.au/products/slr_camera_accessories/speedlites.aspx to see our full range of speedlites.

Task - Tips to get started

When indoors, you'll find shooting subjects and close to walls can cast nasty shadows. So position your subject against a dark background or away from the wall and see the difference this makes. Some speedlites have tilting heads, and you can aim the light at the ceiling for a softer lighting effect.
