The winners of the second annual Harper's Bazaar & Canon EOS Fashion Photography Awards were announced at a glamorous party at Challis Studios in Sydney's Potts Point this week. Launched last year, this unique fashion photography competition is open to amateur and student photographers in Australia and New Zealand, and is proving to be a major drawcard for aspiring pros aiming to crack this competitive photographic arena.
"The entries at this year's Harper's Bazaar and Canon EOS Fashion Photography Awards show the incredible potential of image capture that exists in the fashion photography community," said Stuart Poignand, Marketing Manager, Consumer Imaging Products Group, Canon Australia. "It is both exciting and rewarding to be involved in providing a platform to help unearth the fashion photography stars of tomorrow."
Canon and Harper's Bazaar congratulate this year's winners:
1. Simon Eeles - Winner, receives $2000 worth of Canon EOS camera products 2. Adrian Mesko - Runner up, receives $1000 worth of Canon EOS camera products 3. Isidore Tillers - Highly commended, receives a bottle of champagne
Simon shot his winning image on a Canon EOS 5D.
Testimony to the calibre of talent attracted by the prestigious award, 2007 winner Alexia Sinclair has since gone on to shoot the print ad to launch the acclaimed Canon EOS 40D digital SLR camera and has rapidly developed into one of Australia's leading young talents.
