New Canon imagePRESS C6000 ideal for small- to mid-size print businesses

Canon underscores its commitment to the digital print market by growing imagePRESS range.
Tuesday, 23 September 2008 - Sydney, September 2008: Canon has today announced the imagePRESS C6000 digital press to meet the needs of small- to mid-size print service providers that want to add short-run document production to their existing digital output services. The device is also tailored to central reprographic departments (CRDs) and in-plants that need to control colour printing costs, quality and turnaround times.

The new addition to Canon's imagePRESS range is designed to open up new revenue streams for professional printers by complementing offset devices and boasts a peak output speed of 60ppm.

Canon has used the launch to underscore its long-term commitment to the production print market at an event that also unveiled a new Canon Production Print Centre in Sydney. The Canon Production Print Centre will be used for customer and employee training, for industry workshops, partnership technology demonstrations and for product and workflow testing.

"This product series is still young in Australia, but its global success bodes very well for it here. The imagePRESS C6000 has very much been designed around customer need, so it will be a natural fit in the marketplace," said Tony Wills, Senior General Manager, Canon BISG Australia. "The new device complements the imagePRESS C7000VP and provides another choice for our customers looking to invest in the quality output that the series offers.

"Launching this device, however, means a lot more to us than just unveiling a new machine," he said. "Canon is committed to the print production market and will remain so for the long haul. We have consequently been working hard to get all our internal components in line to support customers and the growth of this series well into the future."

Offset Quality
The imagePRESS C6000 produces output of a quality virtually indistinguishable from offset and maintains superior colour consistency job after job. The revolutionary imaging, fusing and toner technologies developed for the imagePRESS product line help generate impressive output.

Canon's oil-free V Toner uses exceptionally small particles (averaging 5.5 microns) and, when combined with Canon's proprietary Dual Fusing technology, the toner lays evenly and flat across the sheet, producing sharp, vivid, dense images with a smooth finish.

Also, Gloss Optimization helps eradicate any differences between the gloss level between the printed and unprinted areas on a sheet and eliminates raised toner.

With a true 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution and 256 levels of grayscale, the imagePRESS C6000 consistently reproduces clear, sharp images with the lifelike skin tones, smooth gradients and colour accuracy needed to satisfy even the most perceptive print buyers.

imagePRESS C6000 features at a glance:
  • imagePRESS Engine delivers clear, sharp, consistent colour job after job
  • Automatic Press Calibration maintains the necessary colour densities without constant oversight by press operators
  • Advanced Developer Technology constantly supplies fresh developer to help create consistent colour across the width of every page
  • Real-Time Calibration measures colour density levels while the job is in progress. Automatic adjustments help ensure that the first print in a job matches the last print and every print in between
  • 60ppm output speed
