Canon Australia - Head On Alternative Portraits

Head On is a national annual photography portrait competition and exhibition representing a vibrant diverse cross-section of new and traditional photographic practices. It is held in Sydney Australia in April each year.

Head On Foundation invites photographers to submit works to the 2008 photographic portrait competition.

The competition will be judged by award-winning photographer Stephen Dupont, Byron-McMahon director Sandra Byron and Head On Founder and curator, Moshe Rosenzveig.

Prizes will be awarded for the best three images.? The selection of images will be?based on the power of the photograph rather than the celebrity of the subject or photographer.

Further prizes will be awarded to images selected by 'The Critic' and for 'People's Choice'.

Total value of prizes is approximately $32,000:

Exhibition Dates
Sydney, NSW - Head On 2008 will open on 1 May at the Australian Centre for Photography, Paddington.
The exhibition will be on display until 7 June.
Canberra, ACT - Head On 2008 will be travelling to Canberra to participate in the Vivid Photography Festival. It will be exhibited at the M16 Arts Space in Fyshwick from 9-22 July.
