Canon Appoints One Face for Customer Care

Canon Australia has announced the appointment of Grant Jorey to the newly created position of National Manager of Operations for Customer Care.

The appointment follows the consolidation of Canon's three separate service groups into one Customer Care team and is key to Canon's strategy to become more customer-centric by providing customers one face of Canon across the organisation.

"The move to a centralised service organisation is a direct result of digital technology driving convergence across the photographic and traditional print and copier markets," said Peter Love, General Manager, Customer Care. "Grant's role is vital to Canon providing high quality customer support no matter where they are or what the scale of their imaging requirement is."

As National Manager of Operations for Customer Care Grant will be responsible for all functions that deliver service to Canon's wide range of customers including the photographic, consumer, small business, corporate and professional print markets. Canon provides extensive geographical coverage for customer service across Australia via a fleet of field service technicians, a back-to-base service team, branch-office service counters and an indirect team of dealers and Canon Authorised Service Agents.

Immediately prior to joining Canon Grant was the General Manager Key and Corporate Accounts, Service Operations for Telstra.

"The arrival of digital technology in the imaging industry is driving a wave of change similar in type and scale to the convergence of the telecommunications and computing industries," said Mr Jorey.

"Canon is best placed to lead the industry in the transition such revolution necessitates. This is much more than connectivity and networkability at the product level such as digital cameras, scanners, printers, copiers and multifunction devices. It also requires a greater transformation for Canon from a hardware based company to one that is solutions based. We must keep our skills abreast of the technical changes and be able to support hardware, software and networks as well as provide consultancy expertise."

Grant brings to Canon more than eight years experience in the IT&T industry including Information Systems Project Manager and Business Analyst for Caltex Oil Corporation in New Zealand and Manager Service Commitments at Telecom Corporation New Zealand.

Grant has attained a Bachelor of Architecture in Project Management from Auckland University, New Zealand.
