November 2006 - The MV940 from Canon is the most expensive (in the round-up) but it turned out to be the best value.
It's the only one to capture true widescreen video, rather than a lower-resolution, letter box equivalent. Widescreen video captured here gives you more pixels than standard 4:3 video, whereas on the other models (in the round-up) it actually gets you less.
The 25x optical zoom is plenty for most needs, and this camera was the only one to come with a wirelsss controller, something that'll prove very useful.
It is the only one to support image capture to an external flash card, and does so up to 1024 x 768 pixel resolution.
As for image quality, there was some noise at lower-light settings, but overall, image quality was great.
