See it all from your desktop
When it comes to ease of monitoring, and the later storage and retrieval of video footage, traditional methods of video surveillance leave a lot to be desired.
VK-64 changes this. This flexible and customisable surveillance application allows you to see exactly what you want, when and how you want it, right from your desktop. Used in conjuntion with Canon's high quality network cameras and network video servers, they provide a comprehensive monitoring and recording solution for the surveillance of multiple camera sites.
Remote monitoring and recording
VK-64 allows you to monitor and record high-quality video from up to 64 Canon network cameras on one server. Plus, you have the option of monitoring and recording from up to ten servers simultaneously, for a total of 192 cameras.
Customisable viewer layouts
The application's unique interface can be customised to show exactly what you want to see. It allows you to watch up to 24 camera windows at once, arranging them on the screen to suit. You can fill the viewing area with as many video windows of equal size as you wish. Or, you can set up your viewing area to contain a single, large video window and a handful of smaller ones. For even greater flexibility, you can also set up multiple layouts and automatically switch between them as you need to.
Easy-to-use interface
Drop-down menus make it simple to select the location or zone you're looking for. Simply drag and drop the thumbnail of the camera view you're looking for into the viewing area. To adjust the size, simply grab and drag the corner of an image, or choose the full screen option for a closer look. In addition, handy scroll bars give you another option for finding what you want, fast.
Simulataneous review and record
Uniquely, VK-64 allows you to review recorded footage, even while recording continues. VCR-style video controls let you play, rewind, fast forward or skip to events. You can also pause, or advance through video footage frame-by-frame.
Easy search and playback
Because the video is recorded to hard disk rather than tape, finding a shot or event that you're looking for is fast and easy. The viewer allows you to easily search for a specific moment in time - by day, hour, minute or second to find the right image. Alternatively you can search through a list of recorded events catalogued in the live events window based on event type, event priority, location, date or time.
Extensive recording options
These advanced applications also put you in control of your cameras with customisable recording modes. You can set cameras to record continuously, or to be triggered by a motion detection sensor, or to activate before or after an alarm. You can even set up special schedules for holidays and out-of-the-ordinary events that have different requirements. The recorded footage can then be converted into QuickTime files with the push of a button.
Automatic layout sequencing
The applications' automatic layout sequencing feature is particularly useful if you have a large number of networked cameras and cannot display them in a single layout. It automatically switches camera window layouts at specified intervals - every 30 seconds for example.
Canon image quality
To ensure there is detail when you need it, VK-64 can provide video resolution as high as 768 x 576 (4CIF)pixels with most Canon network cameras, and a frame rate of 25 frames per second. Video is captured using Motion JPEG compression. This means that every frame is a complete picture - free of any image degradation due to inter-frame compression.
Difficult light compensation
These applications also include a range of features to compensate for difficult lighting conditions. It includes an infra-red night mode setting for low light, three-level back-light correction, and an image processing function to brighten dark regions of an image.
Complete camera control
They also put you in complete control of your networked cameras from your desktop. Pan-tilt-zoom cameras can be manoeuvred and locked into position from the viewer - a useful feature if cameras are not easily accessible. What's more, you can adjust the backlight compensation for each camera to ensure optimum image quality, adjust a camera's sensitivity to motion detection and the area within the picture to be monitored, no matter where it is.
Network versatility
This versatile application works seamlessly with the complete range of Canon digital and analogue cameras, and is suitable for all network types and configurations. Multiple VK-64 applications can be combined for viewing from one location for organisations with even larger surveillance requirements.
