Describe yourself in 25 words or less:
I am a bubbly pop culture nerd with a passion for all things photographic.
Tell us about your photography journey so far:
I have had a love of photography and camera equipment ever since I can remember. It started when I was a toddler with a toy Mickey Mouse camera that blew bubbles from the lens. Once I was old enough, I quickly discovered dad’s old 35mm film camera later taking up Film and TV in school, learning everything from photography essentials to dark room processing and film making.
My first job out of school was music event management which really sparked a passion for both music photography and low light photography, during this time I also started working in camera sales, a dangerous profession when you are so passionate about camera gear! In 2012, I first joined the Canon family and as they say, the rest is history!
Share the story behind one of your most memorable photographs:
One of my most memorable shots was taken on my first ever DSLR—the EOS 30D. I remember it now as it was my first long exposure at sunset of the Story Bridge in Brisbane. While it may not be my best technical work, I was so proud of it when I took it. But it sticks in my mind even more because I would never be able to replicate the shot as it was taken on the floating walkway that broke away and floated down the river during the 2011 floods. Living in Sydney now, this photo still hangs in my wall to this day.
Explain your go-to gear and why you rate it so highly:
This is a tough one, my go to has always been my EOS 5D Mark IV and EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM. The combination is extremely versatile and means I never miss a shot, but I have also found the EOS R is always out and about with me and quickly becoming a new favourite! The new RF 50mm f/1.2L is what dreams are made of!
What’s your favourite part of your job as a Canon Collective Ambassador?
Getting to teach and help people on their photography journey. I really enjoy helping people achieve new heights with their skills and I get to learn a lot along the way myself as well. It’s always a joy getting to help people reach their “Ah huh!” moment!
If you weren’t a Canon Collective Ambassador what would you be doing?
Working with Canon in some way or form!
What’s the first thing a new photographer needs to learn?
Learn to look for the light and how to take advantage of it, it will take your photography to all new levels. The second thing is to not be afraid of your camera.
Who inspires you?
I am so lucky to have so many talented friends and family who inspire me on every level.
Where is your favourite location to shoot and why?
Anywhere new, I love exploring new locations and capturing that curiosity of new especially in our own backyard around Australia.
What are your photography goals for this year:
To continue learning and constantly improve on all aspects of my photography.
