Have you ever felt like whale watching up-close and personal 'in the water' with these majestic giants of the deep? Here is your chance to take a loan camera out with the assistance of Canon Collective
and Sunreef to swim with and photograph giant Humpback Whales in their natural environment as they progress north to warmer waters during the annual migration.
Starting at the Sunreef Dive Centre at the Mooloolaba Wharf you'll be in for early registration at 11:30am and greeted by the Canon Collective representative and issued a loan camera for the day's activity. After briefing from Sunreef you'll be broken into two groups of 10, rotating in and out of the water over the 4 hour event. You'll be accompanied by a Sunreef staff member for safety for both the participants and the Whales.
You can hire wetsuits, fins and masks from the shop, so all you really need is a memory card to pop in your loan camera. We suggest a high speed SD card for this activity because when the Whales are close you'll be sure to shoot a heap of frames.
There aren't many places that allow this activity in the world and thanks to the team at Sunreef we are able to offer our guests this experience with a camera, like no other.
NOTE: The encounters are on the Whale's terms, sometimes they hang around and get very close, other times they dive and disappear. The important thing is Sunreef will get us as close as possible whilst respecting the natural environment and local laws. Whale sightings are not guaranteed.
