About the event:

Join pro photographer Matt Kemp and the Canon Collective for an exhilarating sunset water-safari photographic experience on the humpback whale's northern migration.

Our expert guide and captain Blake Horton (captain to Kelly Rowland, Will Smith) from Manly Ocean Adventures will provide information about whale behaviour as we track and photograph the majestic humpback whales and their calves as they travel north from the cooler waters of the Antarctic region to Hervey Bay where they birth their calves.

This is not a tourist boat! - this is a special interest, photographic water safari aboard a military-spec rigid-hull inflatable vessel, providing the closest (and safest) water-level viewpoint. The boat is extremely powerful and can move very quickly from pod-to-pod. The vessel is filled to half capacity for maximum comfort and ease of mobility. The water-level vantage point means your whale photos will look spectacular!

• Photography brief will be held at Manly pontoon 20-30 mins prior to departure
• On board assistance with any photography
• Information on the whale migration and behaviours
• Limited range of Canon DSLR's, Mirrorless & Telephoto lenses will be available to try throughout the safari

There is no whale sighting guarantee - standby tickets issued if whales aren’t sighted, no refunds. Preparation must be taken if prone to sea sickness. It is a good idea to combat this even if you don't usually get seasick as it can spoil an amazing experience. As this event is outdoors, please be mindful of your surroundings. Dress for the weather forecast (a re-schedule will be made if conditions are appalling i.e. high wind, rain, large swell).
