Residual Images Appear on Non-printed Areas

Issue

Residual images appear on non-printed areas.

Cause and solution

Appropriate paper is not being used.

Replace the paper with that which can be used with this printer. [Usable Paper]

Cause and solution

Depending on the print pattern or paper type, images on the second previous page is printed faintly on continuous printing.

* Example: Images on the third page are printed faintly on the fifth page.

⋖Remedy 1⋗

Perform the following procedure in the printer driver.

1. Display the [Finishing] sheet.

2. Click [Finishing Details], then click [Advanced Settings] in the [Finishing Details] dialog box.

3. Set [Special Print Mode] to [Special Settings 10].

If this solves the problem, set [Special Print Mode] to [Off].

⋖Remedy 2⋗

If the problem is not solved even after applying the Remedy 1, perform the following procedure in the Printer Status Widow.

1. Display the Printer Status Window. [Displaying the Printer Status Window]

2. From the [Options] menu, select [Device Settings] ⋗ [Assisting Print Settings].

3. Select the [Clean Every 2 Sheets in Consecutive Print] check box.

If this solves the problem, clear the [Clean Every 2 Sheets in Consecutive Print] check box.

Caution

If the [Clean Every 2 Sheets in Consecutive Print] check box is selected, printing speed may drop.

The drum in any of the toner cartridges has deteriorated.

Replace the toner cartridge with a new one. [Replacing Toner Cartridges]

Cause and solution

Depending on the paper type or the operating environment (especially in a high-humidity or high-temperature environment), residual images may appear on non-printed areas.

⋖Remedy 1⋗

Perform the following procedure in the printer driver.

1. Display the [Finishing] sheet.

2. Click [Finishing Details], then click [Advanced Settings] in the [Finishing Details] dialog box.

3. Set [Special Print Mode] to [Special Settings 7].

If this solves the problem, set [Special Print Mode] to [Off].

⋖Remedy 2⋗

If the problem is not solved even after applying the Remedy 1, perform the following procedure in the printer driver.

1. Set [Special Print Mode] to [Off].

2. Display the [Paper Source] sheet.

3. Specify [Paper Type] as follows.

* However, the toner may not fix onto paper well, and the printing may come out faint.

- If [Plain Paper] is specified: Specify [Plain Paper L].

- If [Heavy Paper 1] is specified: Specify [Plain Paper].

- If [Heavy Paper 2] is specified: Specify [Heavy Paper 1].

- If [Envelope H] is specified: Specify [Envelope].

- If [Coated Paper 2] is specified: Specify [Coated Paper 1].

- If [Coated Paper 3] is specified: Specify [Coated Paper 2].

- If [Coated Paper 4] is specified: Specify [Coated Paper 3].
