Ensure that the printer is turned on
If the POWER lamp is off, turn the printer on.
When the POWER lamp is flashing green, the printer is initializing. Wait until the POWER lamp stops flashing.

Ensure that paper is loaded
There is a possibility that the "No paper" error has not been reset.
Load paper and press the RESUME /CANCEL button.

Ensure that the printer port setting corresponds to the printer interface connection
(1) Open the Printer Properties dialog box.
(2) Click the Ports tab (or Details tab), and then select MPUSBPRNnn (Canon iP90v) or USBnnn (Canon iP90v) ("n" represents a number) in the Print to the following port.
Cause and solution
Ensure that the printer is securely connected to the computer
Caution
If you are using a switch box or other devices, remove and reconnect the printer directly to the computer and try printing again.
If printing is now successful, there may be a problem with the device.
Also there could be a problem with the cable(s). Replace the cable(s) and try printing again.
Cause and solution
Verify the printer port status
(1) Right-click My Computer and select Properties.
(2) Click the Hardware tab, Device Manager , and double-click Universal serial bus controller , USB Printing Support.
In Windows Me or Windows 98, click Universal serial bus controller on the Device Manager tab, and then double-click Canon iP90v.
(3) On the General tab, ensure that there is any indication of a problem with the device.

If spooling action is abnormal, disable it to send the print data directly to the printer and try printing again. (In Windows Me or Windows 98)
(1) Open the Printer Properties dialog box.
(2) Click the Details tab.
(3) Click Spool Settings, and then select Print directly to the printer.
Cause and solution
There may be a problem in the printer driver. Uninstall the printer driver and then reinstall it
Use the Uninstaller to delete any unwanted printer drivers. This allows you to delete the files associated with the printer driver at the same time.
When you want to delete printer driver or install it again, uninstall a printer driver with the following steps.
1. Open the Printer Setup Utility (or Print Center).
2. From the Printer List window, select all registered BJ printers.
3. Select Delete Selected Printers from the Printer Setup Utility's Printers menu.
4. Double-click the hard disk icon where the printer driver was installed, the Library folder, the Printers folder, the Canon folder, and then drag the BJPrinter folder into the Trash.
5. Restart your computer.
Caution
When a printer driver is uninstalled in this method, all the printer drivers manufactured by Canon which have already been installed in the computer are uninstalled.
Only a specific printer can not be deleted.
Caution
When not logged on as Administrator, you cannot delete printer drivers. For further information about Administrator, refer to your Macintosh documentation.
Windows
1. TURN THE PRINTER OFF.
2. Turn the computer on and start Windows.
Caution
Caution
If you see the Found New Hardware Wizard, click Cancel.
3. Insert the "Setup Software & User's Guide" CD-ROM.
The setup program should run automatically.
Caution
If the setup program does not run automatically, Click Start, then Run, then type D:/Msetup4.exe, where D is your CD-ROM drive.
4. When the main menu appears, click Easy Install and follow the on-screen instructions.
Caution
Select Easy Install in order to install application software, electronic manual, utility and printer drivers. Select Custom Install in order to choose the options you would like to install.
5. When the "Easy Install" window appears, click Install.
6. Read the License Agreement, then click Yes to continue.
Installation of the printer driver and on-screen manuals will begin.
7. When the "Printer Connection" window appears, connect the USB cable to the computer and the other end to the printer.
Caution
When performing infrared communication, make the IrDA port of each other's device stand opposite to each other. Distance between the IrDA ports should be 31.5 inch (80 cm) or less.
8. TURN THE PRINTER ON.
9. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the remaining software.
When the "Installation Results" window appears, click OK.
10. Follow the on-screen instructions to register your product.
11. When the "Installation completed successfully" window appears, click Exit.
Caution
If a message prompting you to restart the computer appears, check the check box and click Restart.
Caution
If print quality is not satisfactory after installing the printer, you may need to align the Print Head. Refer to [ Aligning the Print Head ].
Macintosh
Caution
The screens below refer to Mac OS X v. 10. 3. x installation.
Screens may differ depending on the operating system you are using.
1. Connect the end of the USB cable to the computer, the other to the printer.
2. Turn on your Mac.
3. Insert the "Setup Software & User's Guide" CD-ROM.
Caution
If the CD-ROM folder does not open automatically, double-click the CD-ROM icon on the desktop.
4. Double-click the Setup icon.
5. When the "Authenticate" screen appears, enter your administrator name and password.
If you do not know your administrator name or password, click , then follow the on-screen instructions.
6. When the main menu appears, click Easy Install and follow onscreen instructions.
Caution
Select Easy Install in order to install application software, electronic manual, utility and printer drivers. Select Custom Install in order to choose the options you would like to install.
7. When the "Easy Install" screen appears, click Install.
8. Read the License Agreement, then click Yes to continue.
Installation of the printer driver and on-screen manuals will begin.
9. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the remaining software.
10. Follow the on-screen instructions to register your product.
11. When the "Installation completed successfully" screen appears, click Restart.
12. After restarting the computer, start Printer Setup Utility
(start "Print Center" when you use Mac OS X V10.2.x) and then check that the name of the printer you want to use is shown in "Printer List". If the printer name is not displayed, press the Add button to add the printer.
