Connecting a Telephone Line

Solution

Follow the screen of "Fax Setup Guide" to connect a telephone line.

Display "Fax Setup Guide" with the following procedures.

[ ] (Menu) -⋗ ⋖Fax TX Settings⋗ -⋗ ⋖Fax Setup Guide⋗

1. Press [OK].

The screen that appears will vary, depending on the specified receive mode.

2. Connect a telephone line with the jack.

Connect as follows.

Telephone line jack (A) and telephone line connector
External device jack (B) with a telephone (When the receive mode is set to ⋖Auto⋗, connect here as needed.)

* If you want to connect an external telephone with fax functions, configure the external telephone so that it does not receive faxes automatically (receives faxes manually) to invalidate the automatic fax receiving function.

3. After connecting the telephone lines, press [OK].

4. Press [ ] to select ⋖Yes⋗, and then press [OK].

Fax settings and connections have been completed.

5. Press [OK].

6. Restart the machine to activate the settings.

Turn OFF the machine and wait for at least 10 seconds before turning it ON again.

7. Change the line type.

By default, the telephone line type is set to tone dialing. If you use tone dialing, skip the following procedure.
If you use pulse dialing, follow the procedure below to change the line type to pulse dialing.
If you do not know the type of telephone line you use, contact your local telephone company.

(1) Press [ ] (Menu).

(2) Press [ ] or [ ] to select ⋖Fax TX Settings⋗, and then press [OK].

(3) Press [ ] or [ ] to select ⋖Basic Settings⋗, and then press [OK].

(4) Press [ ] or [ ] to select ⋖Select Line Type⋗, and then press [OK].

(5) Press [ ] or [ ] to select a type of the line you are using, and then press [OK].

⋖Dial 10 PPS⋗: Pulse dialing
⋖Tone⋗: Tone dialing (Default)

(6) Press [ ] (Menu) to close the menu screen.

Next, select the connection method to a computer.
