Outline

This fix addresses a problem that, in rare cases, causes faxes received from certain devices made by other manufacturers to be printed incorrectly.
You will be asked to enter the serial number of the product in order to download the firmware. The serial number is usually located on the rear side of the printer.

Update History

This firmware includes the following corrections and improvements:
Ver1.52
The following problems have been resolved:
(1) A problem that, in rare cases, causes faxes received from certain devices made by other manufacturers to be printed incorrectly.
(2) A problem that, in rare cases, causes faxes not to be received (no ring) while the device is in sleep mode when the number of incoming rings for the user mode has been changed from '2' (default) to '1'.

Ver1.49
The following problems have been resolved:
(1) A problem that causes the same PC name to be displayed multiple times when selecting the PC name for scan and send.
(2) A problem that causes sequential broadcast to end after sending approximately 20 items when the user attempts to send 50 or more items using sequential broadcast from PC fax.

Ver1.43
The following problems have been resolved:
(1) A problem that causes a PC to fail to recognize the device when using a USB connection if the PC is started while the device is switching to deep sleep mode.
(2) A problem that causes the device to be unable to connect to the network when WINS settings are enabled and a WINS server is not used.
(3) A problem that, in rare cases, causes faxes not to be received while the device is in sleep mode.
(4) A problem that, in rare cases, causes the device to fail to end calibration while displaying "Adjusting..." after it recovers from sleep mode.
(5) A problem that, in rare cases, causes the device to freeze while using a USB connection with Mac OS.

Setup Instructions

The firmware and instruction files have been compressed.
The following instructions show you how to download the compressed files and decompress them.

1. To download files, click the file link, enter the printer serial number, then select [Save] and specify the directory where you want to save the file.The download will start automatically.
2. Files are saved on your computer desktop.
3. Double-click the file to mount the Disk Image.
4. Double-click the mounted Disk Image.
5. Double-click the Installer file in the folder. Installation starts automatically.
6.Open the decompressed PDF file. Follow this PDF instruction to start the firmware update.

Caution

**Caution**
A critical error may occur if another computer or application communicates with the printer (for example, by printing) while the firmware is being updated.
Do not turn OFF the printer or disconnect the USB cable or LAN cable while the firmware is being updated.

* In order to prevent errors:
Connect the printer using either a USB cable or a LAN cable only (do not connect both cables). (A USB cable is recommended as it is not affected by other computers.)
Disconnect the telephone cable from the printer to prevent faxes from interrupting the firmware update.
When connecting the printer with a USB cable, do not connect the cable via a USB hub as this may cause a connection error.
When the printer is connected with a LAN cable, do not perform printing, etc. while the firmware is being updated.
The printer will need service if a critical error, such as the printer not starting up after the main power has been turned ON, occurs.
