Using the GP-E2 GPS Receiver

When you attach the optional GP-E2 GPS Receiver to the camcorder,you can acquire GPS information and add it to your clips. For details about how to attach and use the receiver, refer also to the receiver's instruction manual.

When connecting the GP-E2 GPS Receiver to the camcorder, use the connecting cable supplied with the receiver.

After connecting the receiver, we recommend that you place the receiver in the carrying case supplied with the receiver and attach it to the grip belt or carry it on your person.

Caution

In certain countries and regions, the use of GPS may be restricted. Therefore, be sure to use GPS in accordance with the laws and regulations of your country or region. Be particularly careful when traveling outside your home country.
Be careful about using GPS functions where the operation of electronic devices is restricted.
Others may be able to locate or identify you by using location data in your geotagged clips. Be careful when sharing recordings with others, as when posting them online where many others can view them.
GPS signal reception may take some time.
Never leave the receiver near any equipment that generates a strong magnetic field, such as magnets or electric motors.

Caution

The camcorder is not compatible with the receiver's digital compass and positioning interval functions. Also, the [Set now] option is not available for the [ Other Functions] ⋗ [GPS Auto Time] setting.
The GPS receiver's time will be set once when the receiver is attached to the camcorder. The time will not be adjusted while recording.
GPS information cannot be added to photos captured from a clip.
