To import clips with non-linear editing software for which plug-ins are not provided by Canon, please contact the software manufacturer.
For details on how to use non-linear editing software, please see the instruction manual for the software in question.

For computers running Final Cut Pro 7.0.2 or earlier

It may not be possible to transfer or play back clips recorded with video configurations using the 50 Mbps (4:2:2) bit rate with the following combinations of resolution and frame rate: 1280x720, 29.97P; 1280x720, 25.00P; 1280x720, 23.98P. Upgrade to Final Cut Pro 7.0.3 or perform the following procedure.

1. Please download the Canon XF Plugin for Final Cut Pro from the Canon homepage and install it on the computer.

Caution

If the Canon XF Utilities Disc was included with your product, you can also install the Canon XF Plugin for Final Cut Pro from the disc.

2. When transferring the clip, select an Apple ProRes 422 option for [Target Format (Transcode to)].

Limitations when using Media Composer 4.0.5, 5.0 or 5.5, and NewsCutter 8.0.5, 9.0 or 9.5.

As of May 2012, clips that were recorded using the 50 Mbps (4:2:2), 1280x720, 23.98P video configuration are not supported by Media Composer, version 4.0.5 or 5.0.0 or NewsCutter, version 8.0.5 or 9.0.0. (Update Media Composer to the latest release of version 5.0 or 5.5 or NewsCutter to the latest release of version 9.0 or 9.5.) Also, clips recorded using the 25 Mbps (4:2:0), 1440x1080, 29.97P video configuration will be treated as 59.94i clips. To edit a video project as a 29.97P project, please use clips recorded using the 50 Mbps (4:2:2), 29.97P or 35 Mbps (4:2:0), 29.97P video configurations.
As of May 2012, clips that were recorded using the 24.00P frame rate are not supported by Media Composer or NewsCutter.

Limitations when using Media Composer 6.0, and NewsCutter 10.0.

As of October 2011, clips recorded using the 25 Mbps (4:2:0), 1440x1080, 29.97P video configuration will be treated as 59.94i clips. To edit a video project as a 29.97P project, please use clips recorded using the 50 Mbps (4:2:2), 29.97P or 35 Mbps (4:2:0), 29.97P video configurations.
As of October 2011, clips that were recorded using the 24.00P frame rate are not supported by Media Composer or NewsCutter.
