Getting Started
The procedure for using a smartphone to control the camera during remote shooting via Wi-Fi is explained in the following four steps. Proceed in order from Step 1.

Step 1: Confirming the OS version
1. Check the smartphone’s specifications.

Step 2: Installing Camera Connect on the smartphone
Download Camera Connect from Google Play™ and install it on the smartphone.
If Camera Connect is already installed on the smartphone, please proceed to Step 3: Connecting the camera to the smartphone.

1. Touch the [Play Store] application on your smartphone to access Google Play™.

2. Touch the search icon.
3. Enter [Camera Connect] in the search field, and then touch [Search].
4. Choose [Camera Connect] from the displayed search results, and install it on the smartphone.
After installation has been completed, tap the [Home] button to return to the Home Screen.
5. Touch the menu key, and then touch [Settings]( ).
6. Confirm that the smartphone is not set to [Airplane mode].
7. Set the [Wi-Fi] switch to [ON].
8. Secure the camera.
Step 3: Connecting the camera to the smartphone
Caution
The procedure is shown on a PowerShot SX610 HS for the purposes of explanation. The position and shape of the operation buttons, screens displayed, and setting items may differ according to the model you use.
1. Press the [Playback] () button to turn the camera on.
2. Press the [ ] button.
Caution
When setting up Wi-Fi for the first time, the camera nickname registration screen will be displayed.
This nickname will be displayed on [Select a Device] screen when connecting to other devices via Wi-Fi.
If the [Device Nickname] screen is displayed, press the [ ], [ ] buttons to choose [OK], and then press the [ ] button.
You can change the device nickname (display name) that is displayed on the camera. To change the nickname, press the [ ], [ ] buttons to choose [Change Device Nickname] and press the [ ] button. Then, select the input field and press the [ ] button. Use the keyboard displayed to enter a new nickname.
* Depending on the model you use, a nickname may not be registered. In this case, enter a nickname using the procedure for changing a nickname explained above.
3. Press the [ ], [ ], [ ], [ ] buttons to choose [ ], and then press the [ ] button.
4. Press the [ ], [ ] buttons to choose [Add a Device], and then press the [ ] button.
5. The camera’s SSID is displayed on the screen.
6. Choose the SSID (network name) displayed on the camera’s screen from the list of detected access points displayed on the smartphone.
Caution
For better security, you can require password input by accessing MENU and choosing [ ] tab [Wi-Fi Settings] [Password] [On]. In this case, enter the password displayed on the camera in the password field on the smartphone when it is displayed.
7. Tap the [Canon Connect] application icon () on the smartphone to start Camera Connect.
8. Press the [ ], [ ] buttons to choose the smartphone 's nickname, and then press the [ ] button.

9. When connecting to a smartphone for the first time, the following screen will be displayed on the camera. In this case, press the [ ], [ ] buttons to choose [Yes], and then press the [ ] button.

11. Once you have connected to the smartphone, a screen like the one below will appear.

Step 4: Using the smartphone to control the camera during remote shooting
1. In Camera Connect on the smartphone, choose [Remote shooting].
Caution
The camera lens will come out. Do not press near the lens, and make sure no objects will obstruct it.
2. Once the camera is ready for remote shooting, a live image from the camera will be displayed on the smartphone. At this time, a message is displayed on the camera, and all operations except pressing the power button are disabled.
3. Use the smartphone to control the camera. Press the button to shoot.
