You can suppress the camera noise when performing viewfinder shooting and Live View shooting.
Configuring the Setting for Viewfinder Shooting
The setting procedure is explained below.
1. Set the camera's power switch to [ON].
2. Press the [ DRIVE・AF ] button.
3. While looking at the LCD panel or viewfinder, turn the [ ] dial to select [
] or [
].

Caution
During Live View shooting and movie shooting, shooting will not be silent even if [ ] or [
] is set.
4. Shoot.
Caution
If [ ] or [
] is set, the time lag from when you press the shutter button completely until the picture is shot will be slightly longer than standard.
Configuring the Setting for Live View Shooting
The setting procedure is explained below.
1. Set the camera's power switch to [ON].
2. Set the Mode Dial to [ P / Tv / Av / M / B ].
3. Set the Live View shooting/Movie shooting switch is set to [ ].
4. Press the [ MENU ] button to display the menu screen.
5. Press the [ ] button and select the [
] tab.
6. Turn the [ ] dial to select the [
] tab.
7. Turn the [ ] dial to select [Silent LV shoot.], then press [
].
8. Turn the [ ] dial to select [Mode 1] or [Mode 2], then press [
].

| Mode 2 | When the shutter button is pressed completely, only one shot will be taken. While you keep holding down the shutter button, the camera operation will be suspended. Then when you return to the shutter button’s halfway position, the camera operation will resume. The shooting noise is thereby minimized. Even if continuous shooting is set, only a single shot will be taken. |
| Disable | Be sure to set it to [Disable] if you use a TS-E lens* for shifting or tilting the lens or if you use an Extension Tube. If [Mode 1] or [Mode 2] is set, the standard exposure may not be obtained, or an irregular exposure may result. |
