Canon Australia and Hyatt Regency Sydney celebrate iconic photography with the launch of ‘The Gallery’

Sydney, Australia, 9 October 2017: Famous faces and Australia’s photographic elite filled Heritage Bar at Hyatt Regency Sydney to celebrate the launch of ‘The Gallery’ – an exclusive partnership between Canon Australia and Australia’s largest upscale hotel that will see an impressive series of Photographic Exhibitions showcased from October 2017 to June 2018.

Each month, ‘The Gallery’ will be home to some of Australia’s most iconic photographic images shot by a number of leading Canon photographers. ‘The Gallery' will showcase a range of photographic styles and subjects from fashion to fine art, sports and conservation, to landscape and lights. A portion of print sales will go towards supporting charity.

Portraiture photographer Hugh Stewart will launch ‘The Gallery’ this November with a Celebrity Portrait series, featuring iconic subjects such as Geoffrey Rush, Michael Caine, Julie Bishop, Jenny Morris and Asher Keddie.

Other Canon photographers involved in the project include: Sean Scott (ocean landscape), Jarrad Seng (music and travel), Cybele Malinowski (fashion and music), Krystle Wright (adventure sports), Michelle Aboud (editorial, advertising and portraiture) and Simon Harsent (fine art and advertising).

“Canon is focused on supporting professional photographers and helping them showcase their work.
By partnering with Hyatt Regency Sydney and launching ‘The Gallery’ we are able to celebrate photographer’s achievements more broadly and inspire others,” said Jason McLean, Director – Consumer Imaging, Canon Australia.

Hyatt Regency Sydney General Manager Malcolm Zancanaro said he was thrilled to partner with Canon Australia and the talented group of photographers involved in the project.

“At Hyatt Regency Sydney we’re passionate about connecting people, so the opportunity to partner with Canon, some of their finest photographers and a deserving charity was the perfect fit to demonstrate what we stand for,” Mr Zancanaro said.

The open plan and minimalist design of Heritage Bar is the ideal home for ‘The Gallery’. Built in 1887 the space is filled with history and its prime location of Sussex Street invites people inside to take a look.

The free exhibition will run from 6:30am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday. The Gallery visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase the images on display. For further information on The Gallery visit here.
