Outstanding Portraits with DS coating

The RF 85mm f/1.2L USM DS enables you to achieve signficantly smoother bokeh. Canon's original DS (Defocus Smoothing) coating gradually decreases the transmittance of light from the center to the periphery of the lens, which enables you to achieve significant softness and smoothness of outlines.

  • Fast USM Motor and Lens Control Ring

Thanks to the fast speed of the RF mount, the RF 85mm F1.2L USM DS is fast to lock onto a subject while the Lens Control Ring provides additional control over settings.

  • Rapid and Quiet Focusing

Stay discreet and in control on the street thanks to rapid focusing from a high performance USM motor that ensures the lens locks onto a subject, so you’ll never miss a moment.

    Advanced Construction

The lens employs Blue Spectrum Refractive (BR) optics which negate colour aberrations while a ground aspheric lens element eliminates spherical aberrations caused by a large maximum aperture. The build quality redefines L-series quality with weather-sealing and fluorine coatings on the front and rear elements to guard against water, dust and scratches.

    Beautiful Bokeh

This lens has a large aperture due to f/1.2 and the effect of DS coating, which is applied to the two surfaces and achieves significant bokeh with soft outlines. Enabling you to achieve photos with smooth and beautiful bokeh expression.

1. In order to use this lens with the EOS R or EOS RP, a compatible version of firmware is required. Download the latest camera firmware and install it on your camera.

2. Since the transmittance of the lens periphery decreases due to the DS coating, brightness of the lens at maximum aperture is about 1 𝟏/𝟑 stops darker than f/1.2. By updating the camera to the latest firmware, exposure control in AE will be performed appropriately.
