The Speedlite EL-5 Ver.2 is the first speedlite flash optimised for the next generation EOS R series multi-function shoe. With direct contact points to the camera, experience enhanced functions like high-speed data communication and a dependable power. The Speedlite EL-5 Ver.2 is compatible with EOS R1, EOS R3, EOS R5 Mark II, EOS R6 Mark III, EOS R6 Mark II, EOS R7, EOS R8 Mark II, EOS R8, EOS R10, EOS R50, EOS R50 V and PowerShot V1.
The Speedlite EL-5 Ver.2's high-speed flash charging of 0.1 to 1.2 sec and 95 times or more continuous flashes, reliably tracks the moment you want to shoot and helps reduce the time delay between photos. Shoot scenes with movement, such as a dancing, without missing a beat.
The Speedlite EL-5 Ver.2 has been carefully crated with dustproof and moisture-proof sealing to help protect the flash even in difficult shooting conditions.
The Speedlite EL-5 Ver.2 is equipped with an AF-assist beam and LED modeling lamps. The LED lamp automatically adjusts the amount of light generated by the AF-assist, so that it is less likely to dazzle the subject you are photographing. This makes it ideal for taking pictures of people at night.
The Speedlite EL-5 Ver.2 uses a high-capacity lithium-ion battery power supply with up to 350 continuous flashes. The battery power level can also be clearly displayed on the LCD screen so you can time when the battery needs to be changed or recharged.
Most operations can be operated easily by pushing the joystick and selection dial of the Speedlite EL-5 Ver.2. Shortcuts can be assigned to frequently used operations adding to the ease of use.
The EL-5 Ver.2 uses Canon's newer 21-pin multi-function shoe, found on recent EOS R-series bodies - R1, R3, R5 Mark II, R6 Mark III, R6 Mark II, R7, R8 Mark II, R10, R50, R50 V and PowerShot V1 (As of September 2026).
This version retains the same core feature set as its predecessor, with an upgraded wireless transmission range of 50m (up from 30m) for more reliable off-camera flash control at greater distances.
