To Users of the Compact Digital Camera PowerShot V1

Concerning the “PowerShot V1” compact digital camera, the following potential issue has been identified. Details and our customer support measure are described below.

We would like to offer our sincere apologies to users who may have been inconvenienced by this issue. We take our quality management seriously and strive to make sure our customers can use our products with confidence.

Please note that none of the affected products were distributed by Canon Australia and Canon New Zealand.

Issue
In some units, the serial number is not registered correctly within the product.

As a result, the following issues may occur:
・ When connecting the camera to a PC or mobile application such as Camera Connect an incorrect serial number and/or product name might be displayed.
・ The EXIF information stored in captured images may display an incorrect serial number and/or product name.
・ Unable to register the product to a Canon ID account through the Camera Connect app.

※ The products can be registered manually via the official Canon website

Affected Product
Affected Compact Digital Camera "PowerShot V1" units that experience the issue described above have a serial number starting with the digits "155" and "156".

The correct serial number is a 12-digit number printed on the label located on the camera body, visible when the screen is opened.

<Recommended Method of Checking for Affected Products>
Please connect the camera to the Camera Connect app to check the product information.
The affected products display incorrect serial number and model name.

The correct information is as follows:
・ Model name: PowerShot V1
・ Serial number: the serial number indicated on the product body

Support
For any unit that is within the scope of the affected units and experiences this issue, Canon will inspect/repair the unit free of charge. However, please note that any inspection/repair services other than for the specific issue described above will be subject to applicable service fees, unless otherwise covered under warranty.
