How to recycle your Canon Cameras and Lenses
Canon has partnered with TechCollect to ensure that end-of-life cameras and lenses are safely and responsibly disposed of. Available to products that weigh under 22kg, for postage instructions and label, fill in the TechCollect booking form and take part in the free mail-in program.
TechCollect booking formYes, all Canon Cameras and Canon Lenses that weight under 22kg are accepted. Unfortunately, as most Broadcast Lenses weigh more than 22kg they are not eligible.
Most Canon cameras use Lithium Ion batteries as the power source. Some precautions of handling and disposal are required.
Built-in batteries
If the battery is non-removable or built-in, in accordance with the Australian Dangerous Goods Code (SP188): No more than two devices containing lithium batteries per TechCollect package are permitted. If you're unsure if your device contains a lithium battery, refer to the products technical specifications.
Removable batteries
TechCollect does not accept loose batteries. To safely dispose of removable batteries see Battery recycling.
1. Fill in the TechCollect booking form to receive the pre-paid postage label.
2. Customers are responsible for providing their own sturdy packaging, such as a cardboard box, to pack the items. NOTE: Maximum package weight is 22kg, maximum package length 100cm, no more than 0.25 cubic meters, no loose batteries (see above FAQ regarding batteries)
(a) The device must be switched off.
(b) The device's battery must be drained flat.
(c) Package the items securely in bubble wrap or similar wrapping to prevent movement.
3. Seal the box and securely affix the return label.
4. Drop off at your nearest Australia Post Street Post Box or Post Office.
Each package requires its own pre-paid postage label. If you need to separate your items into multiple boxes, you'll need to complete a separate TechCollect booking form for each package.
