The EOS Ra features an infrared cutoff filter which modifies the transmission of Hα radiation using a filter. As a result, the EOS Ra is able to capture subtle details in the deep-red spectrum which are normally unclear or indistinct. With the EOS Ra, you'll be able to enjoy high-precision images with deep-red rays generated by nebulae, in vivid color.
The magnification ratio of live-view images can be adjusted to either 1x (actual size), 5x, or 30x, enabling close examination of extremely small details on the monitor screen. This allows the photographer to make precise adjustments using manual focus.
The EOS Ra 30.3MP image sensor features Dual Pixel CMOS AF without pixel interpolation and works in tandem with a DIGIC 8 image processor to capture highly precise images of celestial phenomena.
Typical to the R Series system, the EOS Ra features the RF mount to use with RF lenses, however an adapter can be used to access all EF and EF-S lenses. The unit is light and compact with a high-precision electronic viewfinder and vari-angle LCD touch screen monitor for ease while shooting the night sky.
Sealing materials are used in critical areas including the opening to the battery compartment and the card slot covers. In places where sealing materials cannot be used, such as the revolving shafts of dials, design precision has been heightened and gaps between parts minimised to reduce the risk of dust and moisture entering into the camera.
Time-lapse movies can be generated in either full HD or 4K UHD movie format which will enable the photographer to record the nightsky in precise detail. The minimum time-lapse interval is two seconds.
