What is a Pixel?

The Basics:

The term pixel is derived from the words ‘picture’ and ‘element’. Pixels are minute light-sensitive cells in a digital camera’s imaging sensor. It’s the job of each pixel to absorb light, and turn it in to digital information for the camera to create the photo from. Pixel is also the smallest measurement unit of the size of a captured image.
