On expiration of the Term for the Term Based Software a majority of the functionality of the Software will not be available.
Depending on the specific Term Based Software product purchased from Canon, the following limited behaviour will be experienced on the respective Canon multi-function device or through an administration portal at the end of the Term of the Term Based Software.
The limited functions that are available after expiry of a Term Based Software by product is listed below:
At the end of the purchased Term for Cloud Connector, all Cloud Connector functionality stops working on the Canon multi-function device and a new Term Based Cloud Connector license needs to be purchased for the respective device.
At the end of the purchased Term for uniFLOW Online Cloud Essentials, the only features that will be available will be the ability to log in to the Canon muti-function device and to login to the uniFLOW Online portal to access accounting data through the reporting page.
The following functionality stops when there are no remaining active subscriptions:
• Users and admins cannot log in via the PaperCut User Client, any web-based logins, such as a PaperCut user web interface or release stations or through a Canon multi-function device.
• Only the default (built-in) admin account can log in to the PaperCut admin interface. The built-in admin account has restricted access to pages, and an expiry message is displayed on the accessible pages.
• PaperCut is disabled on all devices and users can’t log in to the device with a card ID/PIN, username/password, or swipe card.
• Users will still be able to direct print, but they won't be able to authenticate at a device to securely release jobs.
If there are multiple device subscriptions and one of them expires, its entitlements are no longer available to use. These can be device entitlements or entitlement for features such as Print Deploy, Fax Connect, and release stations. All other PaperCut MF functionality remains the same.
Expiry notifications
You will see a banner in the PaperCut MF admin interface at:
• 30 days before one or more subscriptions are due to expire (including trial subscriptions). This is to warn you that a subscription is about to expire.
• 7 days after a subscription has expired (including trial subscriptions). This is to warn you that a subscription has expired. Once the 7 days has elapsed, the banner will disappear.
Disabling access to a Hive subscription is currently a manual process performed by PaperCut via a configuration key. Doing so will enable a notification and if subscription is not renewed then print release is entirely disabled as well as all other functionality.
Official enforcement of expired subscriptions and public documentation is not yet available from PaperCut for Hive. This will be updated when available.
