Phenomenon of the built-in flash firing a series of flashes

Solution

When pressing the shutter button halfway in dimly lit locations, the built-in flash may fire repeatedly. This is a function called the AF assist-beam, which assists AF focusing and is effective up to (approx.) 4 meters away.
