Changing the Aspect Ratio (PowerShot SX270 HS / PowerShot SX280 HS)

Solution

You can change the image aspect ratio (ratio of width to height).

Aspect Ratio
Used for display on widescreen HDTVs or similar display devices.
The same aspect ratio as 35mm film, used for printing out 5 x 7 in. or postcard sized images.
Native aspect ratio of the camera screen, also used for display on standard definition televisions or similar display devices, or for printing images at 3.5 x 5-inch or A-series sizes.
A square-shaped aspect ratio.

Shooting modes in which aspect ratio cannot be changed, or in which limited aspect ratios are available

Caution

In some shooting modes the aspect ratio cannot be changed.

1. Press the power button to turn the camera on.


2. Press the ⋖FUNC./SET⋗ () button.


3. The following screen appears.

Press the ⋖⋗⋖⋗ buttons or turn the ⋖Control dial⋗ to choose [Still Image Aspect Ratio], and then press the ⋖FUNC./SET⋗ () button.


4. The following screen appears

Press the ⋖⋗⋖⋗ buttons or turn the ⋖Control dial⋗ to choose the desired aspect ratio, and then press the ⋖FUNC./SET⋗ () button.


When the following shooting modes are selected, the aspect ratio cannot be changed, or limited aspect ratios are available.

... Cannot be set
... Only [4:3] or [16:9] can be selected
