Setting ISO Speed (IXUS 185 / IXUS 190)

Raise the [ISO speed] to use a fast shutter speed when you wish to reduce the effects of camera shake or avoid blurry subjects, or to turn the flash off when shooting in a dark area.

Caution

To set the [ISO Speed], it is necessary to set the [Shooting mode] to one of the following modes: [ Program AE: ], [ Long Shutter: ].

The following section explains the setting procedures when the camera's shooting mode is set to [ Program AE: ].

1. Turn the camera on.

2. If [Easy Auto enabled] message is displayed, follow the instructions on the screen to disable Easy Auto.

If you prefer, you can deactivate this message by changing the Easy Auto settings. For details, refer to "Related information" section at the end of the page.

3. Press the [ ] button to enter [ Program AE: ].

4. Press the [ ] button.

5. Press the [ ], [ ] buttons to select [ ], then press the [ ] button.

6. Press the [ ], [ ] buttons to select an [ISO Speed] of your choice.

Guide for changing the ISO speed

	Automatically adjusts the ISO speed to suit the shooting mode and conditions.
	Low High	For shooting outdoors in fair weather.
		For shooting in cloudy conditions, or at twilight.
		For shooting night scenes, or in dark rooms.

7. Press the [ ] button to exit the setting.

The setting you selected will be displayed on the screen.

Caution

To view the automatically set ISO speed when the camera is set to [ ], press the shutter button halfway.

Although choosing a lower ISO speed may reduce image graininess, there may be a greater risk of subject and camera shake in some shooting conditions.

Choosing a higher ISO speed will increase shutter speed, which may reduce subject and camera shake and increase the flash range. However, shots may look grainy.
