Dye Sublimation Printer
This is a thermal transfer type of printer.
It operates by using the print head to generate heat on the color ink sheet so that the ink is vaporized (sublimated*) and transferred onto a specially coated paper. By controlling the heat, the printing density can be modified in small values, so smooth gradations can be achieved.
*Sublimation is a phenomenon in which a solid turns into a gas without first changing into a liquid state.

Inkjet Printer
This type of printer operates by spraying microscopic particles of ink onto paper. For Canon inkjet printers, the print head nozzle is heated to generate bubbles, so that the ink spreads out. The technology makes it possible for the ink to land on the paper surface in precise shapes and on exact locations.
A wide range of paper, such as general printing paper, post cards, gloss paper, etc., can be used for printing.
