  • Care Pack Terms and Conditions

    Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

    Acceptance of terms

    1. Products must be validly registered with the unique code provided with this Care Pack within 14 days of purchase of this Care Pack (Registered Product).
    2. By registering your product with this Care Pack, you hereby agree to accept and be bound by these terms and conditions.
    3. If you do not agree to be bound by these terms and conditions, then do not register your product and return the Care Pack within 14 days of purchase for a refund.

    Care Pack benefits

    1. This Care Pack entitles you to receive in addition to the standard product warranty and rights under the Australian Consumer Law, the following benefits set out below:

      1. free replacement of the Registered Product with a new equivalent product in the case of any manufacturer fault, part failure or other defects; and
      2. free freight within Australia when making any claim.
    2. You will be entitled to the Care Pack benefits immediately upon registering the product until the end of the 36th month from the date of purchase of the Registered Product.

    4. This Care Pack is transferable in the event the Registered Product is sold, provided the subsequent owner registers their details with Canon within 30 days after change in ownership.
    5.  
    6. Care Pack benefits do not apply where damage is caused by:
      1. normal wear and tear;
      2. abuse, mishandling, accident or failure to follow operating instructions;
      3. leaking batteries, exposure to liquid or infiltration of foreign particles;
      4. servicing or modification of the Product other than by Canon Australia or their authorised service agents;
      5. use of the Product with non-Canon ink cartridge ink or toner, or refills;
      6. use of the Product with other accessories, attachments, product supplies, parts or devices (including batteries, tapes/cards, lenses, capture cards and flash attachments) that do not conform to Canon specifications; or
      7. poor or inadequate packaging by you resulting in damage in transit.
       
      Canon Australia Pty Ltd (Canon) warrants that, during the manufacturer’s warranty period, the eligible product will, with normal use and service, be free from faulty parts, manufacturing defects or workmanship. 

     

    Eligible products

    1. This Care Pack can be used with a new and unused consumer product that is not specifically excluded below in clause 12 and is purchased in Australia from Canon Australia or distributed by Canon Australia. Products purchased overseas or not distributed by Canon Australia (sometimes referred to as parallel imports, direct imports or greys) are not eligible for Care Pack benefits.

      * value of a product is inclusive of GST and determined by the price paid at point of sale evidenced in the proof of purchase.

      2. Only one Eligible Product may be registered under each Care Pack. For the avoidance of doubt, any Canon created kit will be considered one product.
      3. The Care Pack cannot be used with the following products:
        1. projectors lamps;
        2. Laser Beam Printers;
        3. Multifunction Laser printers;
        4. any consumables such as print heads, drums, lamps, film, ink and toner cartridges and paper; or
        5. software.

       

      Registering your product

      1. Registration of a product is valid only when:
        1. done within the first 12 months of purchasing the product; and
        2. accompanied by original proof of purchase of (a) the Care Pack; and (b) the eligible product.
      2. To the maximum extent permitted by law Canon excludes all representations, warranties, conditions and liabilities to the Customer including but not limited to liability for negligence and liability for indirect or consequential loss or damage such as loss of tape/card, loss of images, loss of expenditure associated with the Registered Product and loss of enjoyment.

       

      How to make a claim

      1. You can make a claim for service or replacement by:
        1. contacting Canon claims and product support on 13 13 83; or
        2. locating a service centre.
      2.  
      3. If necessary, Canon will provide you with an Australia Post reply paid reference number to send your product.
      4. Canon claims and product support is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, excluding Australian public holidays.
      5. Canon reserves its right to carry out a preliminary compliance check when you make a claim.
      6. You can return the Registered Product to Canon at any Australia Post office quoting the reference number.
      7. The Registered Product should, where possible, be returned in its original carton and packaging or alternatively in packaging suitable to prevent damage to the product with original associated collaterals, such as cords, inks, lens caps. Canon will not accept responsibility for any damage caused in transit caused by unsuitable or inadequate packing.
      8. Upon receipt of the faulty Registered Product, Canon will send to you a replacement product of the same model, unless otherwise notified by you. You should advise in advance if you do not want a replacement but the product repaired.
      9. In the event the same model as a Registered Product is not available or if it is not practicable to replace with the same model, Canon may at its discretion:
        1. provide you with a similar product; or
        2. repair the Registered Product if practicable.
      10. Care Pack benefits do not include the following services:
        1. the replacement of any consumables such as print heads, drums, lamps, film, ink and toner cartridges and paper;
        2. replacement of rubber rollers in scanners;
        3. replacement of accessories (such as straps, cases, covers);
        4. cosmetic damages;
        5. firmware upgrade;
        6. upgrading of any software;
        7. routine maintenance services such as alignments, calibration and cleaning; or
        8. any loss or consequential damage incurred while Registered Product is being repaired.
      11. If Canon has the view that your Care Pack Service claim is not valid, Canon will inform you of its decision to not accept the claim. If a claim is not accepted, you may:
        1. request Canon continue to repair the Registered Product and you agree to pay the usual charges for such repair, on a time and materials basis (a quote to be provided prior to commencing work); or
        2. request Canon return the Registered Product; or
        3. arrange for collection of the product from Canon.
      12. These terms and conditions are to be read together with any liabilities that Canon Australia may have under any statute.
      13. Any disputes arising in connection with this Agreement will be governed by the laws of New South Wales and you agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.

  • Canon Manufacturers Warranty for Consumer Imaging Products

    This warranty applies to Canon consumer products (Products) that are purchased in Australia or New Zealand from Canon Australia Pty Ltd or Canon New Zealand Limited (Canon) or their respective authorised distributors, dealers or retailers.

    Canon-branded products purchased from other sources (including ‘grey’, ‘parallel’ or ‘direct’ imports) are not covered by this warranty. These products may come with a different warranty offered by the retailer or relevant sales company based in another country.

    You will need proof of purchase to make a warranty claim so please keep your receipt and warranty card safe. You can also register your product on our website as a record of your purchase.

    Consumer Guarantees
    You have rights under applicable Australia and New Zealand consumer laws.

    For goods supplied in Australia only: Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

    For goods supplied in New Zealand only: This warranty applies in addition to your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. Further information on the Consumer Guarantees Act is available from Consumer Affairs.

    Canon manufacturer’s warranty
    In addition to your consumer rights, Canon offers the following manufacturer’s warranty:

    With normal use and service, during the Warranty Period stated below, Canon warrants the Products will be free from defects arising wholly or substantially from faulty parts, manufacture and workmanship:

    1. Canon’s warranty does not cover:
      - replacing consumables including print heads, drums, lamps, film, ink, toner and paper;
      - rubber rollers in scanners; or
      - any software included with the Products.

      Canon’s warranty does not apply where damage is caused by external factors including:
      - normal wear and tear;
      - damage caused outside Canon’s control such as accidents, vandalism or burglary;
      - your negligent or improper use of the Products including failing to follow operating instructions;
      - leaking batteries;
      - liquid exposure (except water for waterproof Products) or infiltration of foreign particles;
      - repairs or modification of the Products except by Canon, or its authorised service agents;
      - using unsuitable ink or toner or other materials in the Products;
      - using any accessories, supplies, parts or devices (including batteries, tapes/cards, lenses and flash attachments) not conforming to Canon’s specifications; or
      - shipping or other transit.

      Subject to your rights under consumer law, Canon excludes all liability in respect of the Product for any loss that is not reasonably foreseeable from a failure of the Product, which may include liability for negligence, loss of tape/card, loss of images, loss of data, loss of expenditure associated with the Product, losses incurred while the product is being repaired and loss of enjoyment.

      This warranty is not transferrable.

      Making a warranty claim
      The process for making a claim may differ for some products. Please see the claims processes below.

      Projectors (only those purchased in Australia)

      To make a claim notify Canon as soon as possible by telephoning 1300 799 604 (Australia).

      You may be asked to provide a written description of the problem, images or other relevant material. Remember, please have your proof of purchase ready. The service team will try to troubleshoot the problem with you first.

      If your projector problem cannot be rectified over the phone, Canon will organise for it to be collected and a replacement model will be delivered to you upon receipt. Ownership of the faulty projector will pass to Canon upon receipt by Canon or its agents. Replacement projectors will be the same and/or equivalent projector model, subject to availability. The replacement model may be a new or refurbished ‘as new’ unit projector, determined at the discretion of Canon.

      (please note – Canon will pay for courier costs to pick up any faulty units as identified by our customer care trouble shooting team, however costs for unmounting projectors and/or securely and safely packaging them for safe travel back to Canon is at the cost of the end user).

      Document Scanners*, Faxes** and Micrographics (only those purchased in Australia)

      * Does not apply to P Series Scanners

      ** Applies only to those models of laser faxes that can also be used as stand alone printers

      To make a claim, notify Canon as soon as possible by telephoning Canon on 13 13 83 (Australia). You may be asked to provide a written description of the problem, images or other relevant material. The service team may try to troubleshoot the problem with you first. Remember, please have your proof of purchase ready.

      If the warranty claim is accepted Canon will, at its cost, repair or replace any faulty parts or rectify any faulty workmanship.

      Where the Product is located:

      within a 25km radius of a Canon Direct Service Centre:
      warranty repairs will be carried out on-site by Canon or Canon authorised service agents; and Canon will use its best endeavours to carry out such repairs by the end of the day after Canon receives notice of the warranty claim (except that this period shall not include weekends or public holidays).
      outside a 25km radius: a fee will be charged for provision of on site warranty services.
    2. All other products

      To make a claim, notify Canon or our authorised service agents as soon as possible by telephoning Canon on 13 13 83 (Australia) or 0800 222 666 (New Zealand).

      If we need to examine the Product then, except as otherwise required by consumer law, you must pay for all packing, freight and insurance costs to ship the Product to Canon or its authorised service agent.

      If Canon accepts your warranty claim, we will, at our cost (and subject to your rights under consumer law) repair or replace any faulty parts or rectify any faulty workmanship, and return the Product to you.

      If your warranty claim is not accepted, Canon or its authorised service agents may still be able to resolve your problem, where that service is charged at our standard rates (only with your prior approval).
