What is Basic Zone?

The Basics:

Basic zone refers to the selection of preset fully automatic shooting modes on your camera’s mode dial. Generally speaking, entry level to mid range EOS cameras have more Basic Zone shooting modes than more advanced cameras.

A Little More Detail:

Examples of Basic Zone shooting modes are Intelligent Auto, Portrait, Landscape, and Macro.

Typically, you can only make minor adjustments to these presets, with the camera taking control of most critical settings, depending on the mode.
