About Pitch Your Pod

Have a great idea for a video podcast? Canon wants to help you bring it to life - with gear, guidance and studio support to get you started. Whether your idea is funny, powerful, thought-provoking or totally out there, this is your chance to pitch it and win a full launch package powered by Canon.

What we are looking for
We’re not expecting a polished show - just a strong idea and a creator with passion. Your podcast doesn’t need to change the world, but it should say something you believe in, and show us how you’ll bring it to life visually.
  • Keep It Simple

We’re looking for great ideas and genuine passion, not perfection. Your podcast should showcase what you believe in and how you’ll bring it to life, especially on video.

  • Show Your Vision

We want to see a clear concept or format for your video podcast. Tell us what makes you excited to share your voice. You don’t need a studio, just a plan, even if it’s as simple as you and a mic

  • Make It Matter

From identity and culture to comedy or current issues – whatever you focus, we want to hear how you’ll use video podcasting to connect with others in a meaningful way

FAQs
  • Who can enter the competition?

The competition is open to Australian residents aged 18 and over. You can enter as an individual or as part of a team (up to 5 people total). All entrants must be the original creators of the podcast idea submitted.

  • What kind of podcast ideas are you looking for?

We’re looking for ideas that are clear, original, and have visual storytelling potential. Your podcast can be about anything, from comedy and storytelling to identity, culture, or current issues. What matters most is your passion, your point of view, and how you plan to bring it to life using video.

  • Do I need professional equipment to enter?

Not at all. Your pitch can be recorded using a phone, webcam, or any basic recording setup. We’re not judging on polish. We’re judging on clarity, concept, and creator passion.

  • What should I include in my submission?

Your entry must include two things:
    • A video pitch (45 seconds to 2 minutes, MP4 or private YouTube/Vimeo link)
    • A visual presentation (max 5 slides, PDF or PowerPoint)
    • Make sure to include your name, podcast name, and contact details in the presentation.

  • What should my video pitch cover?

We recommend answering the following in your pitch:
    • What’s the idea?
    • Why are you making it?
    • Why does it matter — to you or to others?
    • How will you use video to bring it to life?
    • How will you launch and grow it?

  • What’s the deadline to submit my entry?

Entries open July 16, 2025 and close August 25, 2025 at 11:59 PM AEST.

  • Where is the studio located? Do I have to be in Sydney or Melbourne?

The studio hire is in Sydney and Melbourne. Studio access is part of the prize, but travel and accommodation are not included.

  • Can I submit more than one idea?

No. Only one submission per individual or team is allowed.

  • Can I enter if I already have a podcast?

Yes, as long as the idea you’re submitting is original and not already in full production. You can pitch a new season or concept if it represents a new creative direction.

  • Where do I submit my pitch?

All entries must be submitted via canon.com.au/pitchyourpod between July 16 and August 25, 2025. Submission instructions will be clearly outlined on the entry page.

  • When will the winner be announced?

The winner will be announced on September 18, 2025 on Canon own channels and Canon’s social media platform.

  • I still have questions, who can I contact?

Please email us at marektingops@canon.com.au for any additional questions.
