Canon Australia ‘Pitch Your Pod” Competition 2025

Terms and Conditions (Terms)
1. Participation in this Canon Australia ‘Pitch Your Pod’ (Competition) is deemed acceptance of these Terms. Information and instructions on how to participate form part of these Terms.

2. This Competition opens at 9:00am AEDT on 16 July 2025 and closes at 11:59pm AEDT on 25 August 2025 (Competition Period). All Entries must be received during this period to be eligible.

Eligibility
3. This Competition is only open to individuals or teams (with a maximum of 5 team members) who:
a. are Australian residents currently living in Australia;
b. are the original creator(s) of the idea submitted; and
c. are not employees (or immediate family members of employees) of the Promoter or any of its related companies, (together known as Participants).

4. Each team member must meet all eligibility requirements in clause 3. If any team member is under 18 years of age, they must also obtain written consent from a parent or legal guardian to this Competition and these Terms and must provide evidence of same if requested by the Promoter.

How to Enter
5. From 16 July 2025, the Promoter will announce the Competition through:
a. Canon Australia’s Instagram page;
b. Canon Australia’s LinkedIn page; and c. Canon Australia’s official website at www.canon.com.au.

6. To enter this Competition, Participants must submit the following via the form on the official ‘Pitch Your Pod’ competition landing page on Canon Australia’s website (together an Entry):
a. Video Pitch Requirement: A link to a private YouTube/Vimeo webpage with one video of maximum 2-minutes length in MP4 format; and
b. Visual Presentation Requirement: One visual presentation with a maximum of 5 pages in PDF or PowerPoint format that includes the Entry Criteria to be provided as a link in the entry form (as set out in clause 7).

7. Each Entry may include episode ideas, moodboard or any visual inspiration, and must include the following (Entry Criteria):
a. Contact details including Instagram handle for each team member, and the name of the proposed video podcast;
b. Description of the core concept of your Video Podcast idea;
c. Explanation for your motivation and purpose for creating the podcast;
d. Why the podcast holds personal significance or its relevance to a wider audience;
e. An outline of how video will enhance or bring your podcast vision to life; and
f. Details of your approach to launching and growing the podcast over time.

8. Entries must not contain material that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, offensive, or that infringes the rights of any third party.

9. Only 1 Entry is permitted per individual Participant and team Participant. For clarity, Participants must only participate either as an individual or as a team.

10. All entries must be received by the Promoter within the Competition Period.

11. By submitting an Entry, Participants consent to receiving communications and information from the Promoter. The Participant will be able to unsubscribe from these communications at any time.

12. By submitting an Entry, Participants retain any copyright they own. Participants grant the Promoter a perpetual, irrevocable, non-transferrable, non-exclusive licence to use and re-post their submissions to this Competition for internal use and for ‘Pitch Your Pod’ program promotions including through Canon Australia’s social media accounts and website. If the Promoter wishes to use a Participant’s Entry, the Promoter agrees to attribute the Participant by their Vimeo account, YouTube account, Instagram and/or Facebook username. Participants agree that this is sufficient attribution.

Judging
13. The Judging panel will consist of representatives from Canon and external partners with relevant expertise in video podcast content creation.

14. This Competition is a game of skill. All valid Entries will be reviewed by the judging panel and assessed against the following four (4) key criteria:
a. Clear Audio and Video.
b. Clarity of concept – demonstrating a clear, creative Video Podcast idea.
c. Creator passion and voice shows genuine enthusiasm and unique perspective.
d. Potential for Visual Storytelling including how video will support and elevate the podcast.

15. 1 Entry will be selected as the winner based on overall merit as determined by the judging panel in accordance with the judging criteria as stated in clause 14 (Winner).

16. The selection of the Winner is at the sole discretion of the Promoter and is final. No correspondence will be entered into by the Promoter.

17. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any Entry that is late, lost, misdirected, or if the Winner(s) does not claim their Prize in accordance with these Terms.

Prize
18. The Winner will receive a prize package valued up to AUD$10,000 which includes:

  1. Video Podcast equipment
    1. 2 x Canon EOS R50 V Camera Kits
    2. 1 x RØDECaster Video Console
  2. Canon Macquarie Park Studio or Sunstudios Melbourne Studio Access
    1. 5 sessions (5 hours per session), available Monday to Friday only, which must be pre-booked with the Canon team at least one week in advance. Bookings are subject to studio availability.
    2. Studio includes free parking, use of supplied studio cameras and lenses and 2 standard microphones. All consumables, catering, backdrop, lighting equipment and additional audio equipment are excluded. Additional hire costs are required if needed.
    3. Studio access is valid for 12 months from the date of Winner notification.
    4. Travel to and from the studio is the sole responsibility of the Winner and not included in the Prize.
  3. Mentorship and Professional Support
    1. 5 x 90-minute coaching sessions at Boom Studio North Sydney (valued at $2499 + GST), to support the Winner in developing their podcast project.
    2. The five coaching sessions must be scheduled and completed within the first month following the Winner announcement. If the Winner fails to complete all five sessions within this period, any remaining sessions will be forfeited and will not be redeemable later.
    3. The Winner will have the opportunity to produce a 1 x 30-minute first episode of their video podcast at North Sydney Boom Studio, including filming and production of the episode.
    4. In-house Canon Product Specialist support, including camera technical support and studio set up advice (during studio booking sessions only).
  4. Video Podcast Channel promotion
    1. The Winner’s video podcast channel will be featured on Canon’s official platforms, including Canon’s official website, competition landing page and Canon’s social media channels including Canon Australia’s Instagram and LinkedIn pages.

Claiming the Prize
19. The Winner will be announced on Canon Australia’s website Competition landing page and Canon Australia’s Instagram account at 3:00pm AEDT on 18 September 2025.

20. The Winner will also be notified by email from the Promoter to the email address that they used for their Entry submission, and they must follow the instructions in the private message to claim the Prize.

21. If the Winner(s) does not claim their Prize according to the instructions specified in the Promoter’s email including:
a. by not providing a correct address for the Prize to be delivered to by the stated due date); or
b. that they cannot provide suitable proof as to the eligibility or compliance with these Terms, then they will forfeit the Prize in its entirety and the Promoter will choose an alternate winner from the rest of the Entries at their sole discretion.

22. If any part of the Prize becomes unavailable for reasons beyond the Promoter’s control, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute that part of the Prize with an item of similar value at its sole discretion.

23. The Prize or any unused portion of a Prize is not exchangeable for cash or goods and is not transferrable. The Promoter will not compensate the Winner in any way for a Prize that has not been claimed within the time limits and in accordance with the instructions given to the Winner.

Participant’s Warranties and Indemnity
24. Each Participant agrees to indemnify the Promoter against all costs and claims in connection with a failure by them to comply with these Terms.

25. Each Participant agrees that they are fully responsible for each Entry they submit, and is fully responsible for any equipment, materials, licences, or other costs required for or associated with each such Entry. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Promoter excludes any liability, or any costs borne by the Participant in submitting their Entry.

26. This Competition is in no way endorsed, sponsored or affiliated with Vimeo, Youtube, Instagram, Facebook or Google. Each Participant agrees to indemnify Vimeo, Youtube, Instagram, Facebook or Google against all costs and claims arising in connection with a failure by them to comply with these Terms, or otherwise arising in connection with this Competition.

27. By accepting these Terms, the Participants confirm they have reviewed and accepted the policies, terms and conditions of Vimeo, Youtube, Instagram, Facebook and Google.

Conditions that may Invalidate Entries, Participants or the Competition
28. The Promoter reserves the right to reject, disqualify, remove, or moderate any Entry that it determines, in its sole discretion, does not fit the criteria set out in these Terms.

29. If this Competition is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated by the Promoter, including but not limited to technical difficulties, unauthorised intervention or fraud, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law to:
a. to disqualify any Participant; or
b. modify, suspend, terminate, or cancel the Competition as appropriate.

30. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any Participant it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Competition or to be acting in violation of these Terms.

31. Errors and omissions may be accepted at the Promoter's discretion, failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.

Privacy
32. The Promoter collects personal information in order to conduct this Competition. The Promoter may, for the purpose of conducting this Competition, disclose such information to third parties, including agents, contractors, service providers, suppliers and, as required, to regulatory agencies. Participation is conditional on providing this information.

33. Information about Participants may be published as set out in these Terms. Personal information collected by the Promoter will be managed in accordance with its Privacy Policy (www.canon.com.au/privacy-policy).

Liability
34. Nothing in these Terms limits, excludes or modifies or purports to limit, exclude, or modify the statutory consumer guarantees as provided under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) or similar consumer protection laws in the States and Territories of Australia (Non-Excludable Guarantees).

35. Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees, the Promoter (including its respective officers, employees and agents) is not responsible for and excludes all liability for any personal injury or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity), whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of this Competition including (but not limited to) out of: (a) any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Promoter’s control); (b) any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference; (c) any Entry or Prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by the Promoter) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter; (d) any variation in Prize value to that stated in these terms; (e) any tax liability incurred by a Participant; or (f) use of the Prize.

General
36. These Terms may change and the Promoter will inform Participants of any changes as soon as reasonably possible.

37. The Promoter will use reasonable efforts to ensure that the timeframes specified in these Terms are met, but Participants accept that time frames may vary due to circumstances outside the Promoter’s reasonable control, including but not limited to postal delays or delays in bank processing.

38. All money amounts in these Terms are in Australian Dollars inclusive of GST.

39. If any provision of these Terms is unenforceable for any reason, such provision shall be severed from these Terms and the remaining Terms will remain in full force and effect.

40. These Terms are governed by the laws in New South Wales. All Participants submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of New South Wales.
