Sydney, Australia, 05 April 2017 – Canon Australia has announced that it has been nominated in the internationally renowned Webby Awards in the Social – Best Photography & Graphics category. Canon Australia was selected from more than 13,000 entries, from more-than 70 countries worldwide.
The Webby Awards’ Social – Best Photography & Graphics category recognises social media experiences that prominently feature the use of photography or incorporate the use of graphics. Canon Australia has been nominated alongside global channels of Red Bull, National Geographic and Nike’s Jordan Brand. As a Webby Nominee, Canon Australia has been singled out as one of the five best in the world, and among the top 9% of all work entered.
“Our vision is to be a brand that is known for what people do with our products and our social media channels are critical to achieving this,” says Nina Spannari, Canon Australia’s Head of Digital Marketing.“In Australia our brand philosophy of ‘No One Sees It Like You’ is more than a strap line, it’s a commitment to nurture and celebrate each individual’s unique view of the world, so our social media channels are enabled by us but powered by the community. The result is a buzzing community of creativity, with stunning imagery that continues to inspire everyone, including us at Canon.”
Putting the brand belief into action, Canon Australia uses its various channels to profile its followers, contributors, and Master photographers. The Canon Australia Instagram channel is the company’s largest and fastest growing community, comprising 100% user-generated content. This has led to a follower growth of 200,000 people within just two years. To celebrate the community, Canon Australia also develops an annual coffee-table book showcasing photographers featured on the channel.
